DIFFERENT SWIMMING TECHNIQUES

Alike all other sports, swimming also has different steps and techniques. A good swimmer is the one who is an expert in every technique of the game. Swimming becomes the overall body workout when a combination of different swimming strokes are performed together. Different swimming strokes have different effect on different body parts. There are different types of swimming stroke let`s have a bird’s eye view on some of them.

FREESTYLE OR FRONT CRAWL.
This is the type of stroke that is very common and is mostly used in swimming competitions. Using this stroke you can swim very fast, during this your whole body is stretched. This is a good all round exercise, but very difficult for those who have weak arm muscles. Once you build a stable speed it feels great to swim through water.

BREASTSTROKE
According to some people it is the hardest to perform stroke, but some people say that this concept is totally wrong, for them the breaststroke is very relaxing and easy to do as you can control your speed and use it as a workout. When you lack stamina during a competition, it is the best stroke to keep going at a low pace. it tones your thighs and pectorals, it assists increase your endurance. The negative point of this stroke is that it can aggravate the pains that persist due to backbone or knee injuries. You should not try this stroke unless your doctor gives you a green signal.

BACKSTROKE OR BACK CRAWL
This stroke is used to stretch your back and shoulder muscles that in result, improves your posture. This stroke is good for the people who want to breathe regularly during swimming. While doing this stroke always remember to look at the ceiling for the markers that indicate your position in the pool. Slow down your speed when you reach near the end to avoid head injury as it is really painful if your head bangs with the pool edge,

SIDESTROKE

BUTTERFLY STROKE
Butterfly stroke is very hard to learn and exhausting to maintain.

DOG PADDLE
Dog Paddle is very easy to learn and simple stroke. it is so simple that you get bored in almost no time. It is usually used for a change in the regular swimming routine.

KICKBOARD LAPS

Kickboard laps are very good to help you become experts in your kick strokes. They can be used as a break between the difficult and speedy laps done without kickboard. They are a great way to start fitness swimming
